Adult Developmental Services
The Florida Baptist Children’s Homes provides
loving care for adults that are developmentally
delayed.
God watches over these special people and uses
our ministry to provide for their unique needs. Our
caregivers are highly skilled and have a passion
and calling for this ministry.
The adults we care for struggle in many areas of
life, but they light up with joy whenever they see
someone they know. They consider everyone they
meet a new friend.
Blessed is he who has regard for the weak . . .Psalm 41:1
Residential Care
We provide residential care homes for developmentally delayed women on our Lakeland and Fort Myers campuses. The home in Lakeland is called Sonshine Residence, and the home in Fort Myers is called Protected Harbor. Both homes can accommodate up to seven women and have separate living quarters for house parents. Admission into the Adult Developmental residential program is based on a variety of standards and qualifications as well as current availability. Please contact us for a list of standards and qualifications.
Adult Day Training program
The Lakeland campus also provides an Adult Day Training program for up to 22 developmentally delayed men and women. This service includes various enrichment activities and basic instruction in life skills and socialization. The classes are held Monday through Friday for about four hours a day and include both men and women. The classes are modified as necessary in order to meet the needs of the different skill levels and mental development of the participants.
